Breaking News: Sulking Shortstop Does Not Want Sox Series Ring
HoHoKam Park, Mesa AZ: While Nomar Garciaparra was signing a few autographs after Cubs practice yesterday, he was asked if he was excited about finally getting a World Series ring. Garciparra replied "I don't want it. They can keep it." And he was not joking. Our AZ correspondent Jessica adds "You guys were so right on about Nomar being a jerk. I guess he's Mr. Cub now, especially with Mia throwing out the first pitch at a Cubs game and getting a donation for her charity foundation from the Cubs foundation. Good riddance to an ungrateful bastard." Maybe Dirt Dog, who was the lone Internet voice to support Theo Epstein when the Nomar trade was made, should get Garciaparra's ring since Mr. Cub does not want any part of it. Seriously, how about auctioning off Nomar's ring and give the proceeds to the Jimmy Fund/Red Sox Foundation/Curt's Pitch/Lance Armstrong Foundation in a four-way split of the eBay profits?
No Ring for Nomar
Sung to Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire"
Winning is an awesome thing
And it earned a Jostens ring
But #5 had no desire
And left here a sulking liar
Nomar showed that he didn't have the fire
He sat down, down, down
And his act got tired
Wasn't earned, earned, earned
No ring for Liar, no ring for Liar
